JOB DESCRIPTION

As part of the Physics & technology R&D department in charge of developing encapsulation and therapeutic cell production technologies, the biophysics team is composed of a biology engineer, a technician and a manager. They are in charge of understanding the interactions between cells and encapsulation technology/capsule production.

Investigating the effect of the technology on the cells, you will work closely with the physicists from the technology team. With a strong experimental component, your main mission will be to conduct research & experiments at the interface between 3D cell biology and physics.

RESPONSABILITIES

You will have a wide range of responsibilities, including the following:

1. Conduct R&D subprojects at the interface between 3D cell biology and physics/technology

  • Plan and organize the experiments to ensure delivery on time of the project objectives in coordination with the lead scientist and/or the manager

  • Design the experimental plan based on relevant information from literature and Treefrog's historical data

  • Implement and improve relevant methods for 3D object characterization (e.g. imaging)

  • Execute lab work and collect data of the experiments with the support of the biophysics and Physics & Techno team members (3D culture of pluripotent stem cells, encapsulation using different technologies, 3D object characterization on dissociated or undissociated 3D objects)

  • Analyze the data and ensure the reporting for the project (presentation during meetings and final report writing)

2. Ensure efficient sharing of the information with the other groups at the interface of the project

  • Present results and project progress during R&D and team meetings

  • Participate in gathering data of interest from other groups & literature in order to support the team position at the interface between technology and biology applications.

3. Participate into the general lab activities and ensure coordination with other groups in TreeFrog

  • Be involved in the different common lab tasks (cleaning, stock management, equipment referent role, …)

  • Effectively interface with cross-functional teams to organize the operational execution of experiments (2D preculture, lab support, analytics & supply team)

Description du profil

With a Master of Science in biology, ideally completed with a PhD in experimental biology or physics , you have a strong scientific background, especially in mammalian cells culture. You have at least 3 years' experience in experimental science, and a first experience in R&D in the industry would be appreciated.

You are familiar with at least one of the following fields :

  • Biophysics

  • Cell encapsulation, bioprinting, organ on a chip or microfluidics systems

  • 3D cell culture and characterization (organoids / spheroids)

Ideally, you also have experience in cell therapy, biomaterials (in particular alginate), tissue engineering, pluripotent stem cells (iPSC / ESC) culture and/or differentiation.

You are fluent English (spoken and written).

You are polyvalent and enjoy working in a multidisciplinary context. You're proactive and a source of ideas. Your research is team-oriented, you favor transparency, coordination and team spirit over individual performance. Hands-on, you have enthusiasm to do experiments and resilience. You show open-mindedness and aptitude for change. You are proficient in analytical and critical thinking and have rigor, precision, listening, communication skills.

You are motivated by the emerging field of cell therapies, and eager to contribute to their expansion? Join us as a Froggy in TreeFrog.

TREEFROG THERAPEUTICS

TreeFrog Therapeutics is an innovative biotech aiming to bring cell therapies to millions of patients, thanks to C-StemTM technology, which was developed to cultivate and differentiate stem cells on a large scale, a world 1st. Since its incorporation in 2018, TreeFrog Therapeutics has raised more than € 74 million and is experiencing strong acceleration thanks to its over 150 froggies team.

TreeFrog's technology is based on the production of alginate capsules, which provide an ideal microenvironment for stem cell culture. One of the challenges is to maximize capsule production throughput, to reach a scale that satisfies the needs of therapies under development, while maintaining micro-compartment quality.
